A pop-up space in the former Chelsea telephone exchange has been established to showcase the work of female photographers from the UK and abroad. Over 80 women have their work on display in the latest phase of a campaign which began last year with the RPS Hundred Heroines campaign.
Project leader Vanessa Ansa says: 'Thanks to the generosity of Sloane Stanley, the building owners, we have been able to provide a platform to showcase a variety of fascinating work. We were overwhelmed by the response to our open call, which clearly highlights the need for providing more opportunities for female artists. The diversity of work has been impressive, and I'm delighted at the support we're seeing from the men. However, we still have a long way to go before female photographers enjoy the same exposure as their male counterparts.'
The RPS started the year by offering bursaries to female photographers and is now concentrating on providing space for women to exhibit their work.
Further information
'This is an amazing exhibition with over 80 female photographers from all over the world exhibiting a wide variety of work presented in lots of different ways. The whole exhibition is inspiring, especially the curation which is very contemporary and unlike anything we usually see from the RPS. This wonderful huge rambling building will be opened especially for LIP members and friends so please come. I am sure you will find somethings very inspiring as I did.' Lizzie Brown LIP Events Organiser.

This event is open to LIP members and non-members alike, so bring your friends and be inspired by these new ideas - whether you're a photographer or not.
