Laura Cuch: No Ma & Sleepless (in Madrid)

Laura Cuch is presented in Madrid with a solo exhibition showing two bodies of work ‘No Ma’ and ‘Sleepless’. These are series of portraits that are part of a trilogy that questions what it is to be human, by exploring issues of identity in relation to health/disease, ‘lack’ as a corporeal condition and the imaginary around the body and its control.

The first series, Sleepless, is about people who, for whatever reason, sleep very little (under four hours per day). The second, No Ma, is a series of portraits of women who know for sure they will never be mothers.

One of the main objectives of the trilogy is to visually explore aspects of the human condition that are not visible and that Laura tries to bring out through the specific approach of each portrait as a result of the interaction with the people portrayed.
