Strange Shadows is a joint exhibition at the AOP by fashion and portrait photographer Matt Antrobus and LIP member Camilla Broadbent. These award-winning London-based photographers offer diverse approaches to the medium but they both share a sensuous delight in beautiful and thought-provoking image-making. Their work challenges conventional assumptions and demands more than a casual glance. These are photographs which ask the viewer to look twice. Camilla’s compelling fine art images combine baroque colours, rich textures, and painterly light, to uncover hidden secrets as if creating a doorway between reality and illusion. Her portraits are intense and moving, rich with potential narratives which engage the viewer with a sense of belonging. Her still lives find startling beauty among the seemingly mundane.
