West Blean wood is one of Kent’s largest woodlands which Trevor has been photographing from 2009 to 2012.
He photographs the forest not for any political reason, or to seek ‘traditional beauty’, but to try and understand nature’s chaos.
Although the forest is managed there are extensive areas that are left undisturbed for long periods of time. When areas are cleared of trees and accompanying undergrowth, detritus is left that creates a chaotic and somewhat random landscape. Trevor says, “For me this chance landscape can be quite beautiful and through camera viewpoint some form of design can be found amongst this chaos. The universe may be inherently chaotic in nature but we have the ability to design, organise and arrange, however even chaos itself holds a kind of eclectic beauty and is worthy of our attention.”
