Dan Bridge & Belinda Lawley: So Near So Far

Dan Bridge

Dan Bridge presents a collection of what he calls ‘small intimacies’. His work highlights how fleeting moments are often emblematic of bigger things; that love can manifest itself in a glance or a firmly grasped hand; that to a certain onlooker the nape of a neck can be as redolent as a stern stare or a wide smile. When seen with the right eyes, such intimacies can be as significant as grand gestures.

Belinda Lawley’s signature collages take snapshots – literally – of life in motion, and then, by setting them alongside one another in patterns superimposed by the author, they draw the eye back and forth. Her process conjoins images in ways that have the air of being quite natural, yet on closer inspection can seem uneasy.
