Terms & Conditions

General

1. The London Independent Photography Annual Exhibition is open to all members with a valid membership of London Independent Photography (LIP)

2. By submitting images to the London Independent Photography Annual Exhibition, each entrant confirms that:
   a) It is their own original work
   b) That they own the copyright of each image
   c) If their work is accepted; they will grant LIP the right to display a copy as part of an online exhibition gallery - on the LIP website - and in the exhibition portfolio book. Each photographer will be credited

3. Copyright of each image is retained by the respective photographer

4. It is the responsibility of the photographer to arrange insurance for their work if required. Whilst every effort will be taken to ensure the safekeeping of the work, London Independent Photography cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to work

Submissions: two rounds

ROUND 1: Electronic pre-selection submission round

5. You may submit a maximum of six image files; however selectors will only be able to choose a maximum of four images from each photographer in the final selection round. We encourage submissions from either a body of work, or outstanding single images. There is always the possibility that the selectors may split your work. If you do not wish for this to happen please make this clear in the entry form using the checkbox provided.

6. To encourage new work:
   a) Submissions should not have been shown in a previous LIP exhibition
   b) Your work must have been created since the closing date for submissions to the 23rd LIP Annual Exhibition (August 2011)

7. IMPORTANT Image file specifications. For the electronic pre-selection round, upload image files with the following specifications:

- jpg/jpeg, 72 dpi, 2000px on longest side, max 1.5MB each
- Files to be named with LIP Membership Number, "dash", sequence number
- i.e. if you are submitting six images and your membership number is 638 the files should be named 638-1.jpg 638-2.jpg 638-3.jpg 638-4.jpg 638-5.jpg 638-6.jpg

NOTE: LIP cannot be held responsible for lost electronic submissions if your files are not named to specification

 

ROUND 2: Print selection round

8. Only members with work chosen by the selectors during the electronic pre-selection round should submit prints at this stage

9. If prints are to be exhibited in window mounts then you should submit them with window mounts for the selection round. Prints that will be block mounted can be submitted unmounted. Please do not submit work framed or block mounted for the print selection.

The maximum print size including mount is:

a) 26 x 22 inches if submitting 3 to 6 images
b) 36 x 24 inches if submitting 2 or less images

10. The selection must remain anonymous so please do not put any names on front of prints or mounts, and please do not submit any introduction or artistic statement.

11. All prints should be clearly labelled on the back with your LIP membership number, name, address, phone number, email, a print title or reference number, and topside of the print marked (if necessary).

12. All wrappings - portfolio cases or similar - should be clearly labelled with your name. Entries submitted in plastic bags or without any packaging will be rejected

Delivery & Collection

13. No late entries will be accepted. If you (or a friend) are unable to deliver on the stated delivery and collection dates you should try to arrange early delivery . Your local satellite group may also be able to assist

14. Payment for prints accepted to exhibit must be made by cash or cheque when you collect your prints after the print selection results are announced

Fees

15. Entrance fee per photographer. This fee entitles each photographer to submit up to six images. The fee covers both the electronic pre-selection round and subsequent print selection round: £8

16. Print hanging fee per photograph accepted to exhibit: £10

Selections

17. Friday 24 August 2012 Electronic pre-selection results announced. At 12 noon a list of successful electronic images that selectors would like to see as prints, will posted on the LIP website

18. Thursday 13 September 2012 Print selection results announced. The results from the print selection round will be posted on the LIP website, including numbers of prints chosen to exhibit
