Being in the everyday can be thought of as a series of small adventures. At the heart of photography is seeing and paying attention to what often goes unnoticed. A key practice is the discipline of taking a camera on all occasions with quiet attention of the eyes and heart. Those adventures can be undertaken in the most local and familiar of journeys – a walk down the road to the shops or a commute into work. They are discovered by getting off the regular tourist trail and away from the sights when travelling. And they are stumbled upon by getting out of the comfort zones with the camera in challenging conditions. Small Adventures is an exhibition that tell stories in this way.

The photographs are all taken by members of Ealing London Independent Photography, a satellite group of London Independent Photography.

The condition is thought to affect 1.7% of the population.

Throughout this ongoing project, Daniel invites people to be photographed as and how they want to be photographed.
Clare Park shines a light on the world of clinical research and also Parkinson’s disease, in this exhibition at ArtCell Gallery, in the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute.

Gathering Light was commissioned by the Joint Research Office at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with support from UCLH Arts, and was first exhibited at UCH Street Gallery in April 2012. The work is the result of a ground-breaking project in which five clinical researchers and their patients collaborated with Clare to explore their feelings about the challenging journey in clinical research. The focus is on ‘translational research’ where researchers work to transform scientific discoveries into new treatments that have a direct effect on patient care. The photographs capture the unique relationship between patient and doctor and the hope and human spirit wrapped up in research projects.

Clare is also showing some images from her series Breaking Form: Buz and Parkinson’s. This is an on-going collaborative project with a UCLH patient, Buz Williams, and his family exploring the impact of Parkinson’s disease. The images exhibited are part of the narrative photographic study developed over the past two decades within a context of their personal lives and shared professional backgrounds of theatre, movement and dance. www.clarepark.tv

Estuary brings together the work of 12 artists who have been inspired by the outer limits of the Thames where the river becomes the sea. The exhibition marks the 10th anniversary of the Museum of London Docklands.

With its dramatic landscape – desolate mudflats and saltmarshes, vast open skies, container ports, power stations and seaside resorts – the Estuary has long been a rich source of inspiration for artists and writers. Through film, photography, painting and printmaking, the contemporary artists featured in this exhibition offer new insight into this often overlooked, yet utterly compelling, environment and the people that live and work there.

The exhibition includes 10 panoramic photographs by LIP member Peter Marshall.
