Poem: Leisure

    Swimming Pool in Tuscany
    by Bart Brownell
    by Steve Gross

    Leisure
    As the French say
    Le sure way to
    Get through the day
    Without doing anything clever or
    Earning any money for
    Others who expect it occasionally
    Leisure
    The pure essence of
    The idea being
We are the free few who
    Can do no work for
    The inclusive time it takes
    To break free and experience
    The liberty of
    Time’s chains released
    To allow us to cease
    Our incessant march of progress
    And to release ourselves from
Our self-imposed regime where we can be
Seen to being, achieving something to
    Allow us to accept
    Our sloth as being
Well worth the colossal effort involved
    Leisure
    Whoever could have guessed
    How much it takes to
    Make it work effectively .
