The Independent Photographers Gallery was re-established in 2006 by Lucy Bell and Ray Kyte. The gallery is one of the premier venues for promoting art photography in the south east, outside of London and has been host to many exhibiting photographers including Sebastião Salgado, Harriet Logan, Malcolm Glover and Terry O’Neill. Each year the gallery will exhibit the work of established photographers as well as showcasing the work of lesser known photographers whose reputations are yet to be established such as the annual showcase featured in the Terry O’Neill Award.

‘London by Londoners’ – LMPG First Annual Photography Exhibition

London by Londoners is the first exhibition of work by the London Photography Meetup Group. Over 50 images will be on display at the Old Town Hall, Chelsea from 3rd to 18th September.

The LPMG is one of London’s largest photography clubs, with over 280 members from all over the city and beyond. This free exhibition will display some of the group’s most striking images of London’s landscapes, architecture, street scenes, and parks and gardens.

The group is unique in welcoming anyone who enjoys taking photos. We have some members who only use a camera phone to professionals armed with medium-format film cameras. The group is web-based, but meet at least once a month to take photos, share skills and experiences and usually have a few drinks too.

Erica Bower, a member of LPMG said “as an amateur photographer, it is a real privilege to have the chance to exhibit work on the King’s Road in Chelsea. There is such quality and diversity of images on display that I’m sure that everyone who knows London will find at least one photograph here that they love”.

Framed prints will be available for purchase at the exhibition.

Exhibition dates: Monday 3rd – Saturday 15th September 2007.
Private view Wednesday 5th September 5:00pm – 8:00pm
Venue: Chelsea Old Town Hall
