Does anyone have one of these I could borrow or know where I could get one for less than £60?
I only need to calibrate my monitor so would be very quick with it; it also seems a bit wasteful to fork out so much for a one off use!

Hi this is for all of us that love to learn.

What is 'iTunes U'?

Well first of all you do need to have a computer and to be on the internet (if your reading this then I think we can assume you are already there), then you need iTunes and away you go. Here is what Apple have to say:

"Learn anything, anytime, anywhere - iTunes U — a powerful distribution system for everything from lectures to language lessons, films to labs, audiobooks to tours — is an innovative way to get educational content into the hands of students."

It seems to be growing fast and Photography is well covered and getting better, AND BEST OF ALL, FREE! - for the time being, anyway lots to explore.

Hi,

I've recently been reading a book about architectural photography that recommends getting a tripod head with a vice grip for attaching to bannisters etc...

I don't currently have a tripod so am looking into getting a decent one but can't find any details of heads with vice grips.

Can you point me in the direction of somewhere I can find something like this? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Photofusion is a photographic resource centre based in Brixton, funded by the Arts Council. Photographers of all levels and abilities have access to resources including a fully equipped studio, digital facilities, and back & white and colour darkroom hire. Courses are also on offer for everything photography related.

The demand for darkrooms has been declining as photographers have moved to digital. However, Photofusion believes public access to darkrooms remains an import resource for artists, students and anyone who might be interested in starting a fun, creative hobby.

A number of people aren't aware how easy it is to get started in a darkroom. In an attempt to reach these people Photofusion is offering a special offer for May:

SPECIAL OFFER
Half price membership to new darkroom users, and discounts on evening sessions (£20 for 4 hours).

The London International Documentary Festival is offering photography workshops this year.

Two 5-day intensive workshops lead by Magnum photographers Donovan Wylie and Olivia Arthur. There are spaces for 10 participants in each, aimed at professionals or advanced amateurs with a good understanding of photographic practices. There will be daily reviews, group critiques, mentoring and editing sessions. Participants will work to develop their own individual visual language, photographic identity and practical, technical and conceptual skills required to compete in the ever-changing marketplace

Donovan’s workshop will concentrate on documenting urban spaces and their populations, and successful candidates will work under his expert guidance to build a new body of London-focused work.

Olivia’s women-only workshop will give ten female photographers the chance to develop their individual visual language and really boost their portfolio in this heavily male dominated industry.

Both workshops are based in teaching rooms at UCL’s central London campus, with good transport links enabling participants to travel easily around the city.

3-7 May inclusive
from 9.30–6pm each day
Tuition £550 plus VAT
My name is Herman James and I am Co-director of climate/gallery in New York. I am writing to invite the members of the society
to submit photographs to climate/gallery’s exhibition

Focal_Resolution-1

Opening reception: January 9th, 2010

The gallery is extremely interested in finding photographers who employ alternate photographic process for this exhibition.

Our Open Call for this exhibition is online at [www.climategallery.com]

We are pleased to announce, and very honored to have as our ‘judge’ for our Best in Show awards:

Bonni Benrubi, Bonni Benrubi Gallery in Manhattan

Ms. Benrubi is one of the foremost photographic arts dealers in the world.

The exhibition is not juried. Rather, we will take all of the fine photographers from the society who care
to submit and will include them in the exhibition. We offer special consideration to the society on our ‘jury’
fee that, once submitted through our site, counts as a reserved place for the submitting photographer.

The PayPal link provided here may be used by your members to submit to the exhibition by payment of $35.
The fee for individuals is $40. By offering this discount we hope that members of the society will submit
individually or as a group. Also, we offer to include the society’s name or logo in all of our promo and we
will hang the work of the members on the wall together.

The secure PayPal link is here. Please tell us who you are when submitting:

Hi,
This is my first AGM approaching, and I was wondering if anyone else is having problems choosing a 'defining' print for the swap? My work as an experimental snapshot photographer lends itself to collections, themes and a general feeling of spontaneity - rather than single images. I obviously have many that I'm proud of, but none that 'sum up' my folio or represent my body of work! maybe i'm taking it all too seriously and am too eager to impress...a failing of mine.
Thoughts? anyone else's first meet and feeling the same?
