Nick Haeffner

My images, which are mainly of places, are bound up with a number of issues of contemporary concern including the ubiquity of surveillance, consumerism and the crisis in the financial markets. On a more positive note, the images often celebrate the colour and vibrancy of street art and the unpredictable juxtapositions which emerge out of urban living. Stylistically, my photography lies between an impulse to document the more uneasy contradictions of contemporary culture, and a stylised formalism which revels in the untroubled pleasures of line, shape, colour and pattern. I lecture in Media Arts at London Metropolitan University and I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
