Report of the 19th Annual Exhibition of LIP

As most of you will know the selectors this year were Mick Williamson, Senior Lecturer in charge of Photography at the London Metropolitan University and Stefanie Braun, Exhibition Organizer, The Photographers’ Gallery and Organizer and curator of the Deutsche Borse Photography Prize Exhibition. As is normal they spent the entire day going through the prints and deciding which ones would be accepted.

83 members submitted 388 prints, of those 274 were rejected leaving a total of 114 prints to be hung. 49 members had work selected and 34 members had no work selected, which I hope, shows that each year the standard goes up.

Congratulations to those of you who had work selected and please forward a jpeg of one print to webmaster@londonphotography.org.uk for inclusion in the exhibition’s web gallery.

The Private View will take place on the 14th October from 2.30 until 5.00 and the exhibition will run from the 14th to the 27th October inclusively.

We will hang on the 13th and all of those who had prints selected should have received instructions about framing and delivering the prints to the atrium Please read them carefully, if frames do not have mirror plates we will not be able to hang them. Please remember to deliver your prints to the Atrium between 10.30 and 11.30 as it takes time to organize and hang the prints. Those that are delivered late may not be hung.

Collection takes place on the Sunday, 28th, there are no storage facilities for pictures which are not collected and it will be the members responsibility to collect or arrange for collection of their prints.

May we also request volunteers to both hang the exhibition on the Saturday and also to help dismantle it on Sunday 28th from 10.00 onwards. We will advise the start time to those who are prepared to volunteer on the Saturday to reduce the waiting time before hanging begins. Please contact John or Avril, either by email or telephone.

Our thanks to all of you who submitted prints and if your prints were not selected this year do not be disheartened there will always be next year to try again.
