We decided to make this meeting open, without a theme, which proved very successful.

There were excellent sets of images on diverse subjects including: feet, legs and their shadows, Manhattan buildings, the sculptural forms of objects abandoned on the street, Canadian porches, and time.

A discussion developed on the role of the ‘accidental’ in photography, a topic we will be returning to in our next meeting.

A video was also shown, leading to a debate on film versus video styles of editing.

Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday 9th July 2014 at 18.45 at the usual venue – The Artworkers Guild, 6 Queens Square, Bloomsbury, London WC1N 3AT.
The theme for the evening will be The Accidental. Some of the best photographs are often the result of a happy accident – whether out of focus, overexposed or an unplanned composition. Or perhaps on closer inspection some previously overlooked detail is unintentionally revealed, making the image work on a different level. Alternative or experimental ways of working may also introduce elements of chance where the outcome is not subject to the photographer’s control. Please bring along any work you would like to share. Prints or digital images on a memory stick please – maximum of 10 images.
