Central London Group December Meeting

Our final meeting of the year had the theme of Ephemeral/Eternal – either/or or both – in some cases ephemeral and eternal proving to be two sides of the same coin. There were plenty of examples of the fleeting moment – shadows and reflections, the play of light and shade, night lights, rain on windows, snow, brightly coloured runners caught in a freeze frame moment. Memorials to the transitory nature of human life – some very moving images of war graves – also testified to the need to make a lasting memorial to lost lives. Withering flowers, the abandoned station in Folkestone and the decaying site of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster where vegetation is once again taking over, all demonstrated that ephemerality is not just confined to human life. Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday 10th January at 18.45 at the usual venue – The Art Workers Guild, 6 Queens Square, Bloomsbury, London WC1N 3AT. The theme will be Personal Projects – a chance to show current work and/or discuss future projects. Please bring along any work you wish to share on a memory stick or in print or book form.
