Instead of our normal meeting at the Art Workers’ Guild, our group organised a photo trip for the month of August. Canvey Island was the destination. Most of us who made the trip had never visited before so it was a bit of an adventure, getting the train from Fenchurch Street and alighting in the wilds of Essex on a sunny Saturday. Instead of going round together in a group, we made our own arrangements and met up afterwards to compare notes. Canvey Island has a very distinctive atmosphere and a diverse landscape – the beach, caravan parks, funfair, industrial sites, modernist architecture, suburban housing and marshland as well as the ever-changing riverscape with passing tankers and ships and, of course, not forgetting the people. The theme is Vintage. Please bring along any work you wish to share on a memory stick or in print or book form.
