The theme for our September meeting was “vintage”. As ever there were a wide variety of interpretations – clothes, cars even people can be vintage. There was a bit of debate as to how old something had to be to qualify as vintage but in the end we decided that it was simply as old you want!
Vintage cars – all still road worthy – featured in two separate presentations and we also saw vintage aircraft. We also saw a fascinating series of images of the vintage gentlemen’s travelling cases complete with razors, shaving soap and other now forgotten accoutrements. We also had a tour of thirties suburbia as well as Berlin just before the wall came down. A fur cape and wedding dress taken from unusual angles gave a different and personal take on vintage clothing. A series of pictures of elderly men gave another dimension to vintage.
