Queens Park are proud to announce our 7th annual show that will take place from Monday 16 August through to Saturday 11 September at The Gallery in the Willesden Green Library Centre and will be open daily from 2 – 6 pm (except Bank Holiday Monday – 30 August).

This year there are 23 artist taking part making it the largest show to date and this means that it will be in two parts with the first group showing from Monday 16 August to Saturday 29 August. The second part will take place from Tuesday 31 August to Saturday 11 September.

All LIP members, friends and supporters are invited to attend either – or both! – private views and these will take place between 6.30 and 9 pm on Thursday 19 August and 2 September.

As we will be holding the exhibition over August and September our next regular monthly meeting will take place on Thursday 16 September – more details to follow.

Shoreditch Group hosting a documentary screening

Andy Preston who is a member of the Shoreditch Group has arranged a screening of the film Shooting Under Fire, which documents the work of Reuters photojournalists working in the Middle East.

The evening will begin with an introduction to the film by Andy who works for Reuters, and he will also answer questions after the screening.

The cafe will be staffed to serve food and drinks, and discussion afterwards is encouraged.

Queen’s Park May meeting

Our next meeting will take place at 7 pm on Thursday 27 May in the Gallery at Willesden Green Library Centre.

As ever please do bring along some work be it a completed project, work in progress or just some thing that you find interesting. Paper prints and electronic media welcome. Or just come along and enjoy the company and images!

It will be an opportunity to see some early work from those taking part in our annual exhibition – to be called ‘Stop Motion’ – and scheduled for mid-August and September.

As we hold the meeting in a gallery there will also be mixed media exhibition of works forming BAR’s Spring Show including some work from QP LIP members.

Forming a new satellite group?

As our satellite groups grow larger there is a greater need for the formation of new groups – even better if they can cover new areas. The latest group to form is in Crouch End, organised by Eva Turrell.

There is now some interest to start a group in southwest London, for those interested check out this posting in the forum.

Starting a new satellite group isn’t particularly complicated.. you can get going simply by organising a few meetups to discuss photography! If you are thinking of forming a group yourself it might be helpful to join forces with another member or two, and if you need any encouragement get in touch with one of the current organisers for insight into how it’s done.

Acton LIP meeting Tuesday 23rd March

Hi, I hope you are all well and that you have been enjoying the recent sporadic glimpses of sunshine. Our next meeting is this Tuesday evening at 7.30pm at the George and Dragon pub in Acton High Street.

I will be giving a brief talk about ‘Typologies’ and suggesting a related group project. We will also be viewing and discussing each others work so please bring your recent images.

After this meeting, I am proposing to move our meetings to the fourth Wednesday of each month as Tuesdays often clash with other events. Please let me know by the end of the week if you have any thoughts on this.
