31st Annual Exhibition
Dear LIP Member
Congratulations on being selected for the 31st LIP exhibition! Here are the next steps you need to follow.
Each of these sections is crucial. Please take time to read them carefully and to follow the instructions and deadlines to ensure that your work is properly displayed and that we have a successful exhibition.
PREPARING YOUR WORK
First, you should begin thinking about printing and mounting your image(s) as soon as possible. You are expected to produce a print of a good quality along with framing or mounting to a high standard. There are two options for mounting which you can select:
1. Frame the work in your preferred material and colour to be Black, Grey or White with D-Rings attached 7cm from top edge
2. PVC board with baton attached with D-Rings attached to baton 7cm from top
The maximum permitted print size including the frame is 61 cm on the longest side. Larger works cannot be accepted, as there won’t be enough room for them in the venue, so please follow the instructions correctly.
All prints selected should be clearly labelled on the back with your LIP membership number, name, address, phone number, email and the title of the work. Is it part of a series?
If your print or the frame is not in a good quality and condition and does not, in the opinion of the Exhibition Organiser, meet the standards of LIP’s 31st Annual Exhibition, then your work will be rejected from being a part of the show.
If unsure on what frame to use or what kind of paper to print on, please find a list of recommended printing services and frame stores here
.
HANGING OF WORK
Espacio Gallery has a hanging method with specific requirements for any work to be exhibited. To eliminate possible damage to work “plate hangers” will not be used. Only D-Rings are accepted.
It is mandatory to attach two D-rings onto the back of each frame, placed about 7cm from the top edge of the frame. If PVC Board is used a baton must be attached to the back of image as well as 2 D-Rings for hanging.
It is very important that you follow the hanging guidelines, as if you fail meeting them it would be impossible to hang your work at the exhibition. If you are in any doubt, please get in touch with Colleen Rowe Harvey exhibitions@londonphotography.org.uk
DELIVERY OF WORK
Your work should be well wrapped and clearly labelled on the outside of the wrapping with your name and contact details. Please ensure your print packaging is sufficient to protect your work from damage. We will need to re-use your wrapping at the end of the exhibition to protect your work, so please ensure that you make this as easy as possible for us! Use a box if possible.
Your selected images should be delivered on Sunday, the 29th of September between 7pm to 9pm at Espacio Gallery, 159 Bethnal Green Road, London E2 7DG. This is the only delivery window we are allowed by the gallery and if you fail to meet them your work won’t be accepted in the show. If you are unable to deliver your work within these times, please ask a family member, friend, LIP member, your Satellite group, to deliver the work for you.
HANGING FEES
As your work has been selecting for hanging, you now need to pay a hanging fee of £20 per print selected. This goes towards the cost of the venue and other exhibition costs but does not include the printing or mounting of your work, which is your responsibility.
PAYMENT
Payment of the hanging fee is due no later than Sunday 15th September.
The preferred method of payment is on line via this link hanging fee.
You may also pay by cheque sent by post to Colleen Rowe Harvey, 10 St. Mark’s Square, London NW1 7TN. Make sure you put your membership number on the back of the cheque and write “Hanging Fee” next to it. Cheques should arrive by the payment deadline of Sunday 15th September.
EXHIBITION FORM
Everyone who has had work accepted for hanging must complete the Selected Members Information Form which can be found at this link Exhibition Form
It should be completed and submitted as soon as possible online and no later than Sunday 15th September.
SELLING YOUR WORK
The Information Form provides a place for you to indicate a price if you wish to sell your work. Does price include frame? Insert NFS if not for sale.
Prospective purchasers will be given the exhibitor’s email address and thereafter all arrangements are strictly the responsibility of the buyer and the seller. Neither LIP nor the Gallery take a commission on any sales. If work is sold through Espacio Gallery using their Debit/Credit card machine the gallery will take a 10% transaction fee on all sales. Artist will also be responsible for organising the delivery of sold work which can occur no sooner than 6 October, 2019 at 5pm.
COLLECTION OF WORK
The collection of the selected photographs after the end of the 31st Annual Exhibition will take place on the Sunday, 6th of October between 5pm and 7pm at the Espacio Gallery, 159 Bethnal Green Road, London E2 7DG.
The gallery will close at 7pm and we will then have nowhere to store prints that are not collected and cannot therefore be responsible for their subsequent safekeeping.
INSURANCE & PROTECTION OF YOUR WORK
While we will take as much care as we can of your work, we are not responsible for any damage that may be caused to it, however incurred, and will not accept any claim for compensation.
Submitting your work implies acceptance of this condition. Arranging insurance for your work is entirely your responsibility.
