Despite the tube strike a fair number of people managed to make it to our last meeting, where the theme of play and experimentation produced a diverse selection of approaches. These ranged from using unfamiliar media in a playful way – iPhone instead of 35mm film camera, experimenting with different aspect ratios and cropping, assembling a video from a sequence of shots, moving the camera to create painterly effects, triple exposures, long exposures, manipulation with editing software and at the other end of the spectrum, combining modern digital capture with the traditional process of salt printing. A most interesting and stimulating evening which illustrated well that sometimes, it pays to think outside the box and push yourself out of your comfort zone!
