Good to see you all after the summer break and what a great turnout we had, much more of that and we’ll have some people hosting others – in their laps!

Our theme for the month was ‘people’ and there was a high standard of contributions, some shown here:

At our meeting in July, in attempt to broaden the scope of our meetings, we started to take a closer look at some of our members work. Dee showed her imaginative work called ‘All the Kings Men’ that she was about to take to the Edinburgh Festival, which was all very exciting. Leonard presented another of his ‘moving’ pieces devoted to ‘People and Places’. At our latest meeting we continued with this idea and we were presented with a very different set from Sara on her fascination with graffiti. She travels a lot and has made a habit of capturing graffiti wherever she goes:

We also discussed at length the theme I have put forward for our proposed exhibition next year – ‘Food’. There were a variety of opinions, ranging from whether this was too narrow to whether we were possibly over complicating things. It was decided that we should all go away and come back this month with pictures on the theme. As was mentioned, food is actually a huge topic, so try to think beyond what you have with your breakfast every morning – farming, sustainability and regional varieties are just some of the themes you could follow. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Finally, Tammy reminded us of Photofusion in Brixton, which as well as being a gallery, also runs extremely good courses – please follow the link for more information – www.photofusion.org

Our October meeting will be at 7PM on Tuesday, 20th October. Please contact me for further information aw@unity-publishing.co.uk – Andrew Wilson
