The October meeting of The Crossing Lines Group was devoted wholly to Robb Horsley’s film of the Aylesbury Estate in Southwark. Robb presented & gave us background to the filming, the history of the estate & the subsequent machinations of the local council to offload its responsibilities & provison of social housing. Robb’s last comment of the evening was “When it’s gone, it’s gone”. The removal of publicly rentable properties within all of our conurbations has given rise to a number of initiatives to document the process of transposition from the social to the exclusive-exclusionary; The Transition Group, which arose from an initiative within Crossing Lines is but one of these.
