The theme for our November meeting was “noir”. There was a good turnout of members and lots of creative ideas on display.
A number of us followed the path of classic film noir with gritty urban shots, shadowy menacing figures and odd camera angles. Even the most innocent city street or quiet flat took on an uneasy aspect. Others took a more metaphorical take on noir with images reflecting sombre feelings. There were some arresting shots of London by night and intriguing views of everyday objects shot in an unsettling way. We also had a series of detailed close ups of coins side by side allowing the viewer to make their own connections and stories.
Finally we saw stunning black and white portraits – some specifically posed with models others more natural poses with friends. These harked back to the glamour of 1930s film shots.
