I started the meeting by welcoming Maria and then moved onto a link to some award-winning food pictures.
We then moved onto our theme for the month, which as I suspected, people found a little more challenging than usual and nothing wrong in that. We had some great entries and over to Ann to give her verdict on what we saw –
The Brief: Pick a topic or cause close to your heart. Tell a story about it in only 3 images.
Runner Up: Nigel Attenborough – Skomer Island Project
Runner Up: Bill Christie – Clean up our sea
Winner: Jane Addey – Poaching of Elephants
Jane fulfilled the brief perfectly. Her three images tell a grim story with powerful impact. I will not forget the shocking image of the discarded elephant’s trunk. No text was needed to accompany the images. Reportage photography at its best.
Congrats to you all, Ann Ulrick
We then moved onto a special presentation from Nigel, viewing pictures from his recent trip to Skomer Island – as you can see from his images attached, he took some lovely images (who can beat a puffin) together with some Razor Bills and Seals.
If anyone has been somewhere recently and would like to present something, please let me know.
Taking a lead from the food award winning pictures, that will be our theme for 16 July – food (not drink).
Again, good to see everyone, enjoy the weather and in particular your photography – cheers AW
