    Roland Ramanan
Participation and ethics in a documentary project. For the last 8 years or so, LIP member Roland Ramanan has been carrying out a documentary project amongst some of the most vulnerable people who congregate around Hackney’s Gillett Square.  The ethical considerations of such a project and the degree to which participants have agency, raise constant questions that he has had to grapple with.  Learning as he goes along, sometimes the hard way.   Roland will give a few examples of how participation and ethics have impacted on his work and ongoing approach.

    Jo Stapleton
Dress Up – exploring an image through alternative processes.
In this presentation, Jo will share how one image from a current photographic project has been creatively explored through a number of alternative processes (chemigram, with, cyanotype, cyanolumen and salt printing). Jo will briefly discuss each individual process and how it can be applied at home – with or without a darkroom. She will explain how each print was created and consider the transformational qualities each process brings to the image.

LIP member Jo is a film photographer with an interest in alternative processes and their creative use. Jo is an RPS 100 Heroines nominee and a 2020 Coward Foundation analogue photography grant recipient.
