We are pleased to announce the relaunch of the two-week International Urban Photography Summer School(iUPSS), which was previously run from Goldsmiths College for some eight years. As you will be aware, Gill Golding helped run this for several years, alongside her involvement with LIP as chair. We are in the process of setting up a Gill Golding summer school scholarship for a London photographer or artist making work about the city.
The summer school is now based at Four Corners Film and Photography Centre, based in London’s thriving and diverse East End. Partners also include the International Visual Sociology Association (IVSA), the Urban Photographers’ Association (UPA), and UrbanAnalogue.
The programme will be of particular interest to artists, photographers, film-makers, urban researchers, architects, geographers, anthropologists, sociologists, urban planners, community development workers, teachers and lecturers, along with many others.
The summer school, scheduled to run from 17-28 August 2026, will also have a public exhibition at the Four Corners gallery, and this will be part of the Whitechapel Gallery’s Backyard Biennial. This will be of particular interest to LIP members wishing to exhibit within a high profile visual arts festival.
The cost of the summer school is £1450 and for IVSA/Four Corners/UrbanAnalogue/LIP members, a discount of 10% applies, along with a further 10% discount for students and applicants receiving state benefits and pensions.

With warm wishes,
Paul and Xinrui
