Laura Noble is an artist, curator, collector, writer and founder of L A Noble Gallery which is predominantly focused on contemporary photography. She also founded FIX Photo Festival which has gained an international reputation since its launch on the South Bank in 2016. Her gallery represents well established artists, and also prides itself on discovering emerging talent. Laura currently represents one of our past LIP speakers Wendy Aldiss and has exhibited several LIP speakers in her celebrated Photo50 exhibition ‘Occupy the Void’ at the 2020 edition of the London Art Fair. She curated ‘Revival: London 1989-1993’ with works by Roy Mehta which will open in March 2022.
L A Noble Gallery holds a diverse collection of work across multiple genres in the photographic canon. Their collector base is as inclusive and broad as the exemplary work it exhibits, including public and private museums, corporate collections, experienced collectors and new collectors seeking to purchase their first photographic artwork and develop a collection. Noble’s aim is to engage audiences and expand their perception of the photographic genre in all its forms. The gallery also provides courses, on site and online on the finer points of photography from its history to its technical developments, collecting, understanding editioning, curating and one-to-one mentoring for photographers at every stage of their career. Laura Noble the author of the seminal book ‘The Art of Collecting Photography’, wrote a column on photobooks for fLIP for over a decade and is a visiting lecturer at Kingston University, the University of Westminster, Falmouth University and Sotheby’s Institute of Art & continues to mentor for the Grain graduate programme. She has delivered seminars on collecting photography at The National Museum of Warsaw, Foam Amsterdam, Glasgow Art Fair and at Fundacio Foto Colectania in Barcelona. Noble is a reviewer at numerous festivals both in the UK & abroad including Photomeet, Encontros Da Imagem, Palm Springs, Houston and has reviewed at Rencontres d’Arles in France since 2004. She is a nominator for the Prix Pictet Prize and as a member of the judging committee for The Renaissance Arts Prize Photography and Video Art Awards. She has also been a judge and curator for The AOP Awards, The London Photo Festival, BJP Portrait Prize, and juror for the 8th & 17th Julia Margaret Cameron Award and as the sole judge for the NYC4PA (New York Centre for Photography) in 2019 and 2021.
