LIP Expert Panel

The LIP Expert Panel mentoring scheme has been live since May 2022, offering LIP members unparalleled access to the expertise and advice of senior industry experts at the incredibly discounted rate of £60 for a 30-minute session and £90 for an hour. This is what LIP member Pupak Navabpour had to say about her experience of the scheme:

“At the time of the Iranian Revolution my mother managed to leave Iran and come to live in the UK. One of the things that she managed to escape with were hundreds of family photos. She ripped out the images from her photo albums and hid the photographs amongst the clothes in her suitcase. These photographs have been living in drawers in her bedroom for the past 40 years and for some time I have been wanting to do something with her photos, but I was unsure exactly what. When LIP started the Expert Mentoring scheme it seemed like the perfect opportunity to receive some advice about how to handle my family archive. I selected Susan Andrews to be my mentor as she has worked on both the East End Archive and the Brady Archive.
During the mentoring session, I was advised by Susan on the basics of the archival storage of the images, the resolution and file format to use when scanning the photos. We also discussed places that could potentially be interested in the work that I could contact for funding. We chatted about the possibilities of exhibiting the work and publishing the images in a book. Susan advised me to create a timetable and we will be meeting again next month to discuss what I have managed to accomplish and what will be the next steps that I need to take for this project.”

Member Helen Rosemeier said:

“My mentoring session with LIP expert Ania Dabrowska was excellent. Ania was warm and supportive, very encouraging and her ideas and insights were invaluable. I have changed the way I think about my current project as a result of her fresh perspective and guidance around my work, which has brought renewed energy to my practice. I would highly recommend this process to other LIP members with the caveat that half an hour was really not enough time!”

You are warmly encouraged to take advantage of the scheme by filling in the brief application form which you can find on this page.
